Report - February 2023
Location
Circular Quay to Woolloomooloo Wharf to the Sculptures Walk 2023
Participants
Ron, Chris, Helen, Richard, Natalie, Colin, Yvonne, Peter
The start
We met at Circular Quay before walking to a café beside the Botanic Gardens for morning tea.
Points of Interest
-we walked through the gardens past many interesting and flowering, pretty plants, exiting across the road from the new Art Gallery extension. (see photos)
-around to the Woolloomooloo wharves where many large pleasure boats were moored.
-on now until May 30 this year, the Sculptures exhibition features 50 contemporary and varied art pieces. The sculptures are placed all along the western side board walk, at the front of the Finger wharf and inside the wharf building, behind the restaurants. (see photos)
-the wharf building (over 100 years old) itself was impressive with many features retained from its original use and information displayed to explain how important it was in the life of the city.
-Natalie and Colin continued on to Kings Cross while the rest of us walked the path to Mrs Macquarie Chair and then through the Gardens to have lunch at the café.
The finish
-after lunch we continued through the gardens and back towards Martin Place to catch transport home
Distance walked
About 5.7 Km
