Venue
Sculptures By The Sea
Participants
Ron, Chris, Natalie, Colin, Peter, Yvonne
The start
The group met at Bondi Junction station and then boarded a bus down to Tamarama Beach where we started the walk about 10.00am
Points of Interest
*The sculptures of course!
*Beautiful weather along the walk looking out to the blue horizon.
*Finished the walk about 11.30 and headed to a café across Campbell Parade at Bondi for a refreshment (aka little lunch!)
*Peter left the group for another appointment.
*Second part of the walk started at 12.00 up Sir Thomas Mitchell Road to Lamroch Avenue and O’Brien Street.
*Lots of variety on housing architecture with at least one interesting art deco building.
*Walk continued and we crossed Old South Head Road then uphill a bit to some steep stairs to Birriga Street. A bit further on we crossed the road and went down some steep steps to Cooper Park.
*Followed Cooper Park bush walk to “Moon Bridge” for a photo opportunity.
*The pathways and bridge were created between 1929 and 1936 by relief work schemes.
*Followed Manning Road down to New South Head Road and found “Vanilla Jam” for further refreshments (aka big lunch!) Left about 2.00pm
The finish
Final uphill stretch from the café to Edgecliff Station took about 10 minutes then the train back to the city.
Distance walked
Approximately 7 Km
