Along the Way:
- Had a great morning tea stop near Riverwood Station and began walking about 10.15am.
- We were glad that the day was dry considering the day before!
- Walked down Belmore Road before turning off to a side street that led to the overpass.
- The pedestrian overpass led us safely over Henry Lawson Drive.
- We accessed Salt Pan Creek via a set of stairs at the end of the bridge on the south side of the road.
- We walked upstream along the board walk as it meandered around the creek.
- Noticed the many houses that backed onto the walk and mangrove area around the Salt Pan Creek Picnic Area-a grassy area where a tall tree had been recently felled
- Apart from a board walk, the pathway was a bush track for a short section and at other times was a hardened footpath.
- Stopped to admire the Warrigal Greens (also known as New Zealand Spinach) which was a verdant green colour.
- Walked under the Pipe Bridge, where there was a small picnic area. This was one of the few places that had a clear view of the creek.
- Stopped at Davies Reserve also called Cutting Reserve for a toilet stop
- The wetlands after Davies Reserve around the mangroves were small with little bird life to be seen.
- Passed under the railway where the foot bridge would have led straight back to Riverwood Station.
- Continued on to Stuart St Reserve. The walking track continued towards Bankstown which we might investigate another time.
- Back onto suburban streets up to Watson Avenue and then to Padstow.
- Arrived at the Padstow Park Hotel by 12.30 for a lovely lunch.
- Back to Padstow Railway Station & Bus Station.
