July 2013 Report
On a picture perfect day 6 of us (Colin and Natalie were in Brisbane) met for morning tea at Birkenhead Point. After a search for sunglasses by two of the group, we set out across the Iron Cove Bridge to walk the circular track around the bay. Rodd Island, a National Park area, is in the middle of the bay.
As the day was perfect, we passed lots of other people enjoying the opportunity to be outside after the previous week had kept most inside. Some walked with friends, some with babies and young children, many with dogs. Many mums had taken their children to the various playgrounds around the track.
Sign boards along Henley Marine Drive told us about the mangroves, saltwater plants and other vegetation.
The highlight of the day was meeting up with Doug and Priscilla for lunch at Drummoyne Sailing Club. The view across the bay, filled with expensive boats of all kinds, was the perfect backdrop for our leisurely meal.
