Points of Interest:
- Walked to the north side of Petersham station observing lovely houses of late Victorian era architecture.
- Coffee stop at café in Leichhardt, after rearranging the furniture of course.
- Walked down Parramatta Road to Bald Faced Stag Hotel which has been in continuous operation since 1830s. It has been rebuilt 4 times!
- Leichhardt Public School began in 1862. In 1912 there were 2205 students and it was one of the largest schools in the country. Great sandstone buildings.
- Leichhardt Fire Station, Anglican Church and Methodist Church-general points of interest
- Leichhardt Town hall-completed in 1888. Sits on the highest point west of Sydney between Martin Place and the Blue Mountains.
- Pioneers Memorial Park-on the site of an old Pioneer Cemetery destroyed in 1941.
- Down past Blackmore Park between the light rail and under the City West Link towards the Hawthorne Canal and then to Iron Cove.
- Walked around Iron Cove along the bay walk passing Callan Park on our right.
- Crossed the Iron Cove Bridge and continued to the Drummoyne Sailing Club for lunch. Great views from the club.
- Bid our farewells after lunch –Natalie and Colin back to Balmain (by bus rather than walking up the hill-phew!) and Ron, Chris, Peter, Yvonne, Richard and Helen back to the city by bus.
