Report - November 2021
Location
73 Seventh Ave Katoomba
Participants
Ron, Chris, Helen, Richard, Natalie, Colin, Yvonne, Peter
The start
Morning tea at Glenbrook
Points of Interest
Tuesday 2 November
-we met at 2773 Café for morning tea (scones and cream!). A quick look at some of the shops and a purchase of bread rolls and we were off to find the new accommodation.
-an explore of the house and then lunch around the big table
-in the afternoon most of the group walked down the road to the Minnehaha track. This is ‘maintained’ by the Council and was rough under foot. Three of the men walked right down to the bottom of the Falls while the rest of us stopped at the lookout. So many pretty flowers along the way and also some beautiful black cockatoos.
-Peter drove the girls into Katoomba to do the shopping (Kitty - $40 each)
-after drinks and nibbles by the pit fire it was chicken and salads for dinner
Wednesday 3 November
-a visit to the Hartley Historical Village. We walked around the old sandstone Court House, the Church, the Presbytery, the inn and some housing. A walk down to the River Lett was especially pretty as was the area around the decaying old bridge.
-we drove through the back roads towards Lithgow to visit the Hassan Walls Lookout. This was named by Gov Macquarie as the area reminded him of India. Wow, what a view down into the Cox’s Valley.
-we had our picnic lunch in the park at Mt Victoria
-some of us stopped at Blackheath for coffee. Whoops! We had the key to the house!
-by the fire pit again before a great BBQ dinner and Christmas cheer.
Thursday 4 November
-we woke to the predicted rain.
-around 10am we all headed into Leura for morning treat a favourite café. Afterwards the men headed back and the girls explored the local shops.
-back to our accommodation for a casual afternoon with most going for different walks in the local streets.
-there were plenty of goodies for dinner using the various salads etc from previous days.
The finish
Friday 5 November
-after breakfast, cleaning up and packing we all left by 9 to go our various ways.
